F.L.B. Flood
Frostproof, Florida
c. 1920's

Fredrick Luke Bredin Flood was a citrus farmer who supplemented his income by making wooden lures. "The Famous Circling Minnow" was named for its ability to swim to one side when retrieved (notice the side-mounted line tie). Available in at least three sizes, each was hand painted and tested before being sold. They rank among the finest examples of early folk art lure making from Florida.

The green-scale model below is hand-signed by Flood himself. His initials "F.L.B." appear just above the belly fin. This rare example came from a descendant of Flood in this ultra rare "Patent Applied For" box.
