Palm Beach Pier Bait Company
Palm Beach, Florida
c. 1920's - 1930's

William Gray's clothespin-style lures were first developed for customers fishing from the Palm Beach Pier. However, word traveled fast on the Wiggle Diver's fish-catching abilities. Eventually Gray sold the patent rights to the Shakespeare Company, and for years it remained the standard for pier baits.

Note: This 3-hook example was hand-carved from tenite. The box graphics are the work of Hedley Gillings, Gray's partner on the pier.
