Southern Bait Company
Mineola, Florida
c. 1930's - 1940's

Another mysterious lure maker, the Southern Bait Company seems to have no real home. Boxes have surfaced with different cities printed on them, including Minneola, New Smyrna, Ormond Beach, Daytona, Thomasville, Birmingham and Baltimore. Perhaps the marketing of a jobber-distributor, no one really knows for sure. Evidently, the Southern Bait Company was a cottage industry with no tangible origins.

Note the escutcheon pins used to secure the hooks. These are obviously rigged for saltwater applications.
