Dazzy Vance & Company
Tampa, Florida
c. 1937

Arthur "Dazzy" Vance was a famous big league pitcher who loved to fish. He's featured here in his 1933 Brooklyn Dodgers baseball trading card. Late in his career, Dazzy formed a partnership with Paul Manon to build and market fishing lures. Because of Dazzy's fame, the company brand bared his name.

All of their lures were packaged in cedar boxes similar to those used for cigars, and they are considered a very rare form of packaging for a Florida lure maker.

Note: The lure in the photo is believed to be the predecessor to the Dalton Special. Somehow it has ties to Paul Manon.
